A. Product Overview
The Internal Top Mount Multi-Level Vertical Operated Series is a top mounted float level switch used for monitoring and controlling liquid levels inside tanks and vessels. It is designed with a vertical stem and multiple floats, allowing it to detect different level points from a single top entry connection.
This level switch is available in SS304, SS316, SS316L, Nylon and Polypropylene material options depending on the liquid media and application requirement. It can be supplied with stainless steel or polypropylene floats and is suitable for different industrial and process applications.
The switch is compact, durable and easy to install. Its standard mounting is quarter inch BSP and it can also be customized as per application requirement. The switching action can be reversed by removing the float, inverting it and refitting it on the stem.
It is mainly used for multi-level indication, pump control, overflow protection, dry run prevention and liquid level automation.
B. Working Principle
The Internal Top Mount Multi-Level Vertical Operated Series works on a magnetic float and reed switch principle.
A float moves up and down along the vertical stem as the liquid level rises or falls. Inside the float, a magnet is fitted. Reed switches are placed at defined switching points inside the stem. When the float reaches a set level, the magnet activates the reed switch and gives an electrical signal.
This signal can be used to control pumps, alarms, panels, indicators or automation systems. Multiple floats can be used on one stem to provide different level signals such as low level, high level and intermediate level points.
The switching action can be configured as per requirement, making the device suitable for different tank control applications.
C. Why It Is Used
The Internal Top Mount Multi-Level Vertical Operated Series is used where more than one level point needs to be detected inside a tank from a single top mounting position.
It helps in:
- Detecting high, low and multiple liquid levels
- Preventing tank overflow
- Protecting pumps from dry running
- Automating filling and emptying operations
- Reducing manual level checking
- Sending level signals to control panels and alarms
- Improving process safety and tank operation
- Monitoring liquids in compact or restricted installation areas
This switch is useful where side mounting is not possible and where the level switch needs to be inserted from the top of the tank.
