A. Product Overview
The Miniature Top Mount SS Level Switch is designed for accurate and reliable point level detection in compact tanks and vessels where space is limited. It is mounted from the top of the tank and operates through a float movement mechanism. The switch is suitable for applications where liquid level needs to be monitored for high level, low level, overflow protection or dry run prevention.
This level switch series is available in stainless steel and plastic float versions. The stainless steel model is suitable for water, boiling water, industrial fluids and chemical applications, while the Polypropylene and Nylon float version is suitable for selected non-aggressive liquids and atmospheric pressure applications.
The switch comes with a standard 1/4 inch BSP inverted male plug connection, and custom options such as M16, 1 inch BSP and TC fitting can be provided as per requirement. The stem length, float size, switching point and switch action can be customized during manufacturing.
B. Working Principle
The Miniature Top Mount SS Level Switch works on a magnetic float and reed switch principle. A float moves up or down along the stem according to the liquid level inside the tank. As the float reaches the set switching point, the magnet inside the float activates the reed switch located inside the stem.
This action changes the electrical contact state and gives an ON or OFF signal to the connected control panel, relay, alarm, pump or automation system. The switching action can be configured as normally open or normally closed depending on installation requirement.
Because the switching mechanism is enclosed inside the stem, the device provides reliable operation without direct electrical contact with the liquid.
C. Why It Is Used
The Miniature Top Mount SS Level Switch is used to control and monitor liquid levels in tanks where a compact, economical and dependable level sensing solution is required. It helps prevent overflow, dry running of pumps, low level operation and process interruption.
It is preferred in small tanks and machines because it requires less installation space, provides simple ON and OFF switching, and can be customized based on tank depth and required switching height.
Common uses include:
Water level monitoring
Boiling water level detection
Industrial fluid level sensing
Chemical tank level control
Small tank overflow protection
