The Metravi NCTM-1000 Non-contact Type Tachometer is a digital RPM measuring instrument used to measure the rotational speed of machines and rotating components without touching the object. It combines photoelectrical technique, microcomputer technology and laser measurement in one compact handheld instrument.
It supports two test modes: RPM mode for rotational speed measurement and count mode for revolution counting. The instrument has a 5 digit LCD display with backlight, built-in memory, Max, Min and last value recall, and a wide RPM test range of 2 RPM to 99,999 RPM. It also offers a count range of 1 to 99,999 counts and a detecting distance of 50 mm to 500 mm.
B. Working Principle
The Metravi NCTM-1000 works on a non-contact photoelectric and laser sensing principle. A reflective mark or reflective tape is placed on the rotating object. When the tachometer is aimed at the rotating surface, the laser detects each reflection from the mark.
The instrument counts these reflected pulses and converts them into RPM or revolution count. Since the measurement is done without direct contact, there is no mechanical loading on the rotating part and the measurement remains safer for high-speed or moving machinery.
