A. Product Overview
The Ultrasonic Level Transmitter is designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids in tanks, open channels and water storage applications. It is available in measuring ranges of 0 to 5 meter, 0 to 10 meter and 0 to 15 meter, making it suitable for small tanks as well as larger reservoirs and industrial water storage systems.
The transmitter comes with a durable ABS body and probe, with optional PTFE probe customization for specific application requirements. It features a waterproof design, high quality sealing ring, protective electrical interface and a transparent shell for easy viewing and dust protection. The instrument provides a standard 4-20mA output and can also be customized with RS485 communication for digital monitoring systems.
It is commonly used in water storage tanks, sewage disposal systems, rivers, lakes, wells, reservoirs and industrial automation water tanks.
B. Working Principle
The Ultrasonic Level Transmitter works on the ultrasonic time-of-flight principle. The sensor emits ultrasonic sound waves from the probe toward the liquid surface. These sound waves reflect back from the liquid surface and return to the sensor.
The transmitter calculates the time taken by the ultrasonic signal to travel to the liquid surface and return. Based on this time, it calculates the distance between the sensor and the liquid surface. The instrument then converts this measured distance into a level value and sends the output signal to a controller, indicator, PLC or SCADA system.
The measured reference plane is the lower edge of the sensor. During installation, the upper liquid level must not enter the blind area. The sensor should be installed away from the feeding point, tank wall and internal obstacles to avoid false readings.
C. Why It Is Used
The Ultrasonic Level Transmitter is used when continuous and non-contact level measurement is required. Since the sensor does not touch the liquid, it reduces maintenance, avoids corrosion-related issues and provides reliable measurement in many water and wastewater applications.
It is used for:
Water tank level monitoring
Reservoir and river level measurement
Sewage disposal level monitoring
Industrial automation water storage tank measurement
Lake and well level measurement
Process tank level monitoring
Open tank and open channel level measurement
PLC and automation system integration using 4-20mA or RS485 output
This transmitter is especially useful where direct contact sensors may face fouling, scaling, corrosion or mechanical wear.

FAQ
1. What is an Ultrasonic Level Transmitter?
An Ultrasonic Level Transmitter is a non-contact level measuring device that uses ultrasonic sound waves to measure the distance between the sensor and the liquid surface. It continuously monitors the liquid level in tanks, reservoirs, wells and industrial storage systems.
2. What is the measuring range of this Ultrasonic Level Transmitter?
This transmitter is available in 0 to 5 meter, 0 to 10 meter and 0 to 15 meter measuring ranges. The range can be selected as per tank height and application requirement.
3. What output signal does this transmitter provide?
The standard output is 4-20mA. RS485 output can also be customized for digital communication and integration with automation systems.
4. What is the accuracy of this Ultrasonic Level Transmitter?
The accuracy is ±0.5% FS, making it suitable for general industrial and water level monitoring applications.
5. What power supply is required?
The transmitter operates on DC24V power supply.
6. Where can this Ultrasonic Level Transmitter be used?
It can be used in water storage tanks, rivers, lakes, wells, sewage disposal systems, reservoirs and industrial automation water storage tanks.
7. What is the blind zone of the transmitter?
The blind zone distance is 0.35 meter to 0.6 meter. The liquid level should not enter this blind area during operation, as it may affect measurement accuracy.
8. What is the installation type?
The standard installation is G2 thread installation. Flange mounting can also be customized based on site requirement.
9. What material is used for the probe?
The standard probe material is ABS. PTFE probe material can be customized for specific liquid compatibility requirements.
10. What precautions should be taken during installation?
The sensor should be installed vertically above the liquid surface. It should be kept away from the feeding port, tank wall and internal obstacles. For outdoor installation, long-term rain protection is recommended. The recommended pipe wall distance is 0.5 meter for 5 meter range, 1 meter for 10 meter range and 1.5 meter for 15 meter range.
