A. Product Overview
The Baumer AP diaphragm pressure gauge is a steel case low and high pressure gauge designed for industrial pressure measurement where direct Bourdon tube gauges may not be suitable. It is built with a DN 100 and DN 150 mm dial size, making it suitable for clear pressure reading in plant, process and utility applications.
This model covers pressure ranges from -6000 to -250 mmWC, 250 to 6000 mmWC and -1 to 9 bar, making it suitable for low pressure, vacuum, compound and positive pressure applications. The gauge has an accuracy class of 1.6, which supports reliable measurement for general industrial and process use.
The Baumer AP gauge comes with an AISI 304 stainless steel bayonet case, with an optional AISI 316 stainless steel case for better corrosion resistance. The sensing element is an AISI 316L stainless steel diaphragm, with optional Hastelloy C or Monel for aggressive media applications. The process connection is available in AISI 316 stainless steel, with optional AISI 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy C or Monel.
Available process connections include 1/2 inch BSP(M), 1/2 inch NPT(M) and flanged connection. The gauge supports type 2 and type 6 mounting and has IP65 protection class, with optional IP66 and IP67 for enhanced dust and water protection. It is manufactured as per EN 837-3 reference standard.
B. Working Principle
The Baumer AP pressure gauge works on a diaphragm sensing principle. When pressure is applied through the process connection, the media acts on the diaphragm. The diaphragm deflects according to the applied pressure.
This deflection is transferred through a mechanical movement system, which moves the pointer across the dial. The dial then displays the pressure reading in the selected unit such as mmWC or bar.
The diaphragm design helps isolate the internal measuring mechanism from the process media. This makes the gauge suitable for applications where the media may be corrosive, viscous, contaminated or unsuitable for direct entry into a Bourdon tube type gauge.
For aggressive process conditions, optional wetted materials such as Hastelloy C or Monel can be selected to improve chemical compatibility and service life.
C. Why It Is Used
The Baumer AP diaphragm pressure gauge is used where accurate and reliable pressure measurement is required in low pressure and high pressure industrial applications. Its diaphragm type construction makes it suitable for media that may not be compatible with standard pressure gauges.
It is mainly used for:
Measuring low pressure and vacuum in mmWC ranges
Measuring positive pressure up to 9 bar
Clean air and gas pressure measurement
Corrosive media pressure measurement
Non-crystallizing liquid pressure measurement
Applications requiring stainless steel wetted parts
Chemical and process industry pressure monitoring
Utility, filtration, ventilation and plant pressure applications
Pressure measurement where flanged or threaded connection is required
Industrial installations requiring EN 837-3 standard diaphragm gauges
The stainless steel construction, optional corrosion-resistant materials and IP protection options make it suitable for demanding industrial environments.
