A. Product Overview
The Baumer BA differential pressure gauge is designed for measuring the pressure difference between two points in a system. It is suitable for industrial applications where reliable differential pressure monitoring is required for air, gas, filtration, process lines and plant equipment.
This model is available with DN 100 and DN 150 mm dial size, giving clear visibility for field and panel-mounted applications. The pressure ranges include 600 mmWC with static pressure 10 kg/cm2, 1000 mmWC to 2500 mmWC with static pressure 40 kg/cm2, and 4000 mmWC and above with static pressure 60 kg/cm2.
The gauge has an accuracy class of 2.5 ascending and comes with an AISI 304 stainless steel bayonet case. The sensing element is available in AISI 304 stainless steel, AISI 316L stainless steel and AISI 316 stainless steel, with optional Monel for demanding process media. The process connection material is AISI 316L stainless steel, with optional Monel.
The standard process connection is 1/4 inch NPT(F) x 2 Nos. The available mounting types are 1, 2, 6 and 12. It has IP65 protection class and follows the EN 837-3 reference standard. A CE approved electrical contacts option is also available for alarm and switching applications.
B. Working Principle
The Baumer BA differential pressure gauge works by measuring the difference between two pressure inputs, usually called the high pressure side and low pressure side.
Both pressure points are connected to the gauge through the two 1/4 inch NPT(F) process connections. When pressure is applied from both sides, the internal sensing element responds only to the difference between the two pressures. This differential pressure is transferred to a mechanical movement, which moves the pointer on the dial.
The reading shown on the dial represents the pressure difference, not the individual line pressure. This makes the gauge useful for monitoring filter blockage, flow restriction, pump performance, air handling systems and process pressure balance.
The stainless steel sensing element and stainless steel process connection help improve durability, corrosion resistance and suitability for industrial environments. Optional Monel material can be selected where better chemical compatibility is required.
C. Why It Is Used
The Baumer BA differential pressure gauge is used to monitor pressure difference in systems where pressure variation between two points indicates process condition, equipment performance or maintenance requirement.
It is commonly used for:
Filter clogging and filter health monitoring
Air and gas differential pressure measurement
Pressure drop monitoring across strainers and filters
HVAC and air handling unit applications
Cleanroom and ventilation pressure monitoring
Pump and compressor line monitoring
Process industry differential pressure measurement
Fertilizer, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and power plant applications
Industrial gas line and utility system monitoring
Applications requiring high static pressure capability
Applications requiring stainless steel construction and IP65 protection
Systems requiring optional CE approved electrical contacts for alarm output
The gauge helps operators identify blockage, pressure imbalance, flow restriction and abnormal system conditions before they cause downtime or process failure.
