Product Details
- Ceramic sheath R-type and S-type high temperature thermocouples are commonly used in high-temperature applications where the temperature range is typically between 0°C to 1600°C (32°F to 2912°F).
- The R-type thermocouple is composed of a platinum (Pt) wire and a platinum-rhodium (Pt-Rh) alloy wire, while the S-type thermocouple is composed of a platinum wire and a platinum-rhodium (Pt-Rh) alloy wire. The S-type thermocouple has a slightly lower temperature range than the R-type thermocouple, up to 1450°C (2642°F).
- The ceramic sheath surrounding the thermocouple protects the wires from the harsh environment of the high-temperature application, and is able to withstand the high temperature range without degrading. Ceramic materials such as aluminum oxide or magnesium oxide are commonly used in ceramic sheaths for high-temperature thermocouples.
- These types of thermocouples are commonly used in industries such as aerospace, metalworking, and manufacturing, where high-temperature measurement and control are critical for safety and quality control. The accuracy and reliability of ceramic sheath R-type and S-type high temperature thermocouples are dependent on factors such as proper installation, protection of the ceramic sheath from physical damage, and periodic calibration to maintain accuracy over time.
